The client portal a compliance review could survive

This law firm needed a client portal for matter status, documents and billing — no agent, no automation, just a product that would hold up under a compliance review. We built it with the same senior engineers who build the agents, because the brief doesn't always start with one.

What was actually wrong.

Matter status lived in email threads clients had to ask about, which meant status updates were a manual chore for every fee earner.

Document sharing ran through unencrypted email attachments — a real exposure that had already been flagged internally.

The firm's compliance function needed role-scoped access and a full audit trail before anything client-facing could ship.

How we went at it.

01

Started from the compliance requirement

Role-scoped permissions and an immutable action log were designed in from the first architecture decision, not bolted on before launch.

02

Built the portal around matter status, not documents

Clients see where their matter stands first; documents and billing sit underneath it, matching how they actually think about the relationship.

03

Shipped without an agent, on purpose

Nothing here needed automation — the brief was a secure, well-built product, and that's what a build-only engagement looks like.

Compliance first, not last

Role-scoped permissions and an audit trail were the starting architecture, not a pre-launch addition.

Status, then documents, then billing

The portal mirrors how a client actually thinks about a matter, not how the case-management system stores it.

We didn't need an agent. We needed something our compliance team could actually sign off on, built properly the first time.

Know what you need, or don't. We can help either way.

Already sure you want an agent, or a web, mobile or 3D product? We can scope it on the call. Still figuring it out? That's fine. AI is new, and we'll tell you honestly what's realistic. Chances are we've already worked with a company like yours, or a direct competitor, so we're not guessing.

Engagements start at $3,000. Typically live in under a month.
